Coordinate Systems
Center of MASS is a three dimensional coordinate system which uses the center of the object(s) as the reference point. Origin is a user defined field which defaults to 0 for XYZ as the reference point.
Basic Measures
Volume — Total area occupied by faceted solid
Mass — The product of volume times density
Surface Area — Total area of faceted solid
Surface Mass — The product of area times weighted density
Measures based on Angular Velocity (XYZ = 0)
Moment/Product of Inertia — Angular equivalent of mass, expresses resistance of an object to rotational change about a given axis
  • IXX — Moment of inertia about the center of mass X axis or axis parallel to origin X axis
  • IYY — Moment of inertia about the center of mass Y axis or axis parellel to origin Y axis
  • IZZ — Moment of inertia about the center of mass Z axis or axis parellel to origin Z axis
  • IXY — Moment of inertia about the diagonal axis in center of mass XY plane or axis parellel to origin XY Plane
  • IYZ — Moment of inertia about the diagonal axis in center of mass YZ plane or axis parellel to origin YZ Plane
  • IXZ — Moment of inertia about the diagonal axis in center of mass XZ plane or axis parellel to origin XZ Plane
Radius of Gyration — The ratio of moment of inertia to volume
Principal AXES/Moment — On any object there are three mutually perpendicular axis intersecting at the center of mass for which the products of inertia will be 0, grouped as Principal AXES and the principal moments are calculated about the Principal AXES
