Use the Import>IGES function to import IGES format files.  IGES stands for the Initial Graphics Exchange Standard, the internationally recognized neutral format for the translation of design data among different CAD and CAM systems.  The IGES option allows you to select IGES files, specify file configuration information, and translate the file. The translator preserves style and width attributes during a round-trip translation in addition to color.

Note that this function does not support the importing of both wireframe and solids IGES files. Where in previous versions the IGES wire and IGES One-Pass translators were separate, they have been merged to provide for convenient and quick translation.
