Feature Database Files

Under the FEATDATA directory are the ENGLISH and METRIC subdirectories, each of which contains the following database files with their given formats. It is very important to maintain the order of the fields. In the database files, the fields are listed left to right, with TYPE as the first field. Each file has a .DBF extension. Countersunk and Counterdrilled features are stored in the same file.

The TYPE and SIZE fields are Key Fields that are used to build the lists that appear in each of the feature dialog boxes. Each kind of feature is broken up into different Types, which are taken from the TYPE field. For example, different types of drilled holes are: Normal tolerance, Close tolerance, or Nominal tolerance. For each Type there are certain standard sizes, which are taken from the SIZE field.
