Layout Mode Overview

Working in Layout mode is similar to adapting your three-dimensional ideas to paper, making them two-dimensional.

Drawing Layouts

Layout mode allows you to create one or more layouts of your parts for drafting presentations and for purposes of blueprinting.

Associativity in Layout Mode

Associativity is the established relationship, or link, between the original part in Model mode and a drawing instance in Layout mode; and also, between a drawing instance and its dimensions.

Detailing in Layout Mode

You can detail both instance and layout-specific entities.

Layout-Specific / Instance-Specific Entities

Layouts can contain both instance-specific and layout-specific entities.

Levels Window

Levels should be used to organize and isolate the varying contents of a layout and to make the process of layout creation and/or modification easier.

Using Levels in Layout Mode

Each Layout has its own levels, separate from model and other layouts.

Dimension-to-Instance Association

Dimension-to-instance association refers to the link between a drawing instance and its related dimension(s).

Disassociation

Disassociation occurs when the program can no longer recognize the link that had been established between a part in Model mode and an instance in Layout mode, or between an instance and its dimension(s).
